These slippers just capture my heart. They are light, fuzzy, and warm in any color and any size, from newborn to 8 years. In girly pink or chocolate brown, they make an amazing baby gift all on their own, or tied with a bow on the top of a gift. The bottom is worked flat, then stitches are picked up and short rows are worked across the top of the foot.
Sizes: 12-18 months (2, 4, 6-8) yrs

Yarn: blue sky alpacas bulky (50% alpaca, 50% wool; 100 gr = 45 yds): 1 (2, 3, 3) hanks #1211 frost
Needles: size us 13 (9mm) double-pointed needles (dpn), or size needed to obtain gauge
Materials: st markers; st holders; crochet hook size i-j for fur; piece of 3.5" cardboard 3”x 5”, for fur
Gauge: 5 sts and 10 rows = 2” in garter stitch Note: the slipper bottom is worked flat, then sts are picked up around the bottom and the upper is worked to the ankle. Since the bottom of the slipper will be slippery for walking, you may want to sew a nonskid slipper bottom or fabric (available at most craft stores) to the bottom.
